Both teams have had good starts to the season, following a home defeat to Aston Villa on the first day Arsenal have overcome Fenerbache 5-0 on aggregate in the Champions League and beaten Fulham 3-1 in the league. Spurs have picked up two 1-0 wins in the league against Palace and Swansea and have knocked Dinamo Tblisi out of the Europa League.
With both teams getting good results under their belts, the game looks a tricky one to call but I have to fancy Arsenal. The last four encounters between these two sides have ended in home wins and Spurs have scraped through their Premier League encounters so far and haven’t been overly impressive for me and Arsenal are a huge step up in class of opposition for them.There is something a little bit strange about this fixture as it always seems to produce bags of goals. There have been 31 goals in the last six meetings between the two sides, an absolutely massive average. With both teams possessing huge amounts of attacking talent with the likes of Cazorla, Walcott, Soldado and Paulinho on display goals could fly in again here. Over 2.5 goals is available at 4/6 while over 3.5 is available at 2/1 in the same place if you’re feeling a bit more adventurous.
In Arsenal’s two Premier League games so far this season Olivier Giroud has grabbed the first goal and I fancy him to be at it again here. Playing on his own upfront means Giroud gets a lot of service and he’ll be full of confidence with his two goals so far. He is available at 6/1 to net first.
With the goals looking to fly and Arsenal looking good for a win, a 3-1 win for Arsenal is a good price at 16/1.
