The home side beat Millwall convincingly in midweek whilst Bolton toiled to a 0-0 draw in a very low quality game against Blackpool by the seaside.
The Trotters apparently should have won the game with Jermaine Beckford missing a few chances as the game petered out.
However I have to side with home team on this occasion, there has been a significant improvement in Birmingham’s performances in recent weeks including a scalp in the Capital One Cup knocking out the holders. Admittedly they have only beaten Millwall and a very poor Sheffield Wednesday side, but there is more confidence about their play and they now have the goalscorer they have been crying out for.
The obvious pick would be Jesse Lingard to score anytime, due to his 4 goal salvo his price has been greatly reduced and I’d prefer to take a chance on the creator of many of these goals Chris Burke to score anytime 13/2. The Scot created 3 of the goals in the thumping of Sheffield Wednesday and has always been deadly at this level. He can go past his man with ease and possesses an accurate shot which will hopefully result in him finding the back of the net.
Bolton’s fortunes must turn at some point this season and they will pick up 3 points in the next few weeks. They seemed to have stopped conceding as many sloppy goals, but still have problems in the final 3rd. I would back Under 2.5 goals in this match which is 21/20.
Although Birmingham have been scoring of late, Matt Mills, Tim Ream and Alex Baptiste should nullify the attacking threat somewhat and I can see the match finishing with few goals.
