Despite the changes their coach made, team proved to vulnerable at the back once again as they exited from the Cup competition. Defensive lineup is their biggest worry early in the season as the team have conceded thirteen goals in first five rounds (second worst defense in the League One) and count only a 1-1-3 record being currently close to relegating positions. Home side will search for a victory which would make the distance towards the relegation zone bigger for them, while the team can’t expect much more in the season except the safe ending of the season. Hosts will miss important left midfielder Robinson (4/1) and experienced midfielder Koumas (4/0), while young central midfielder Wallace remains long term absentee.Stevenage is also not having a very proud start in the season, but slight improvement is obvious in last weeks, while the team hopes that they can build up on those performances and get a safe position at the table later on in the season. After a first victory in the season away to Notts County 1:0 two weeks ago, they continued with good performance in a match against Bradford last weekend.
Despite the fact that Bradford probably has the quality to promote to Championship, Stevenage looked very well on the field and got fairly deserved 1:1 draw in the end. Hosts took the lead in 22nd minute with a goal from Tansey from penalty kick and kept the lead all the way till start of the second halftime when Reid equalized. Positive thing for them is that their offensive lineup has started to work, while they had enough time to prepare for this game having no obligations in Carling Cup in the midweek, unlike their opponents. Left back Hills and defender Chorley are already long term absences and will not be counted in next months either, while defender Charles (4/1) and winger Akins (1/0) are sidelined for today’s game.
Tranmere have failed to win their last five home matches in League One.
Defensive lineup of Tranmere still faces up with very big problems, something that was obvious even against team from lower division like Fleetwood is. Stevenage, on the other hand, is starting to get their rhythm and with several free days they have, they surely have prepared well for today’s game. Home side is nowhere near to be anything close to favorites and under such circumstances betting on guests surely have some value.
Bet: Stevenage 0 Asian handicap
