Coventry wasn’t required to play in the League Trophy as they lost to Leyton Orient in the first round and the team had enough time to prepare for the today’s game. Coach Pressley is optimistic regarding the future of the team, saying that his team works well, although it’s not a secret that the club still wants to acquire a player or two. For now, the team has 2-2-1 record, meanwhile their biggest worry remain back of the team as they have conceded twelve goals so far. Roster will probably be complete for a match against Colchester, as left back Adams has overcame the injury problem and trained in last week, however it’s possible that coach Pressley doesn’t want to make changes in comparison to previous rounds.
Colchester didn’t have much chances in their last round’s game as they welcomes Leyton Oriented, team that is in a great form, and lost with the score of 1:2. Guests started better and took the lead after thirteen minutes, while Colchester equalized in 35th minute. In repetition, guests stepped up better once again and got the winning goal in 63rd minute.
However, they had to play in League Trophy game last Tuesday away to Dagenham where they got defeated with a 4:1 score. They had the lead in the first halftime and got equalized early in the second, but when their central defender Okuonghae got red carded in 63rd minute, everything was lost for the visitors, just like their coach Dunne has said after the game. There are several problems in their team in front of today’s game as their defender Okuonghae (4/0) starts a three-match ban, while other defender, Dickson (3/0) was sick in past few days and may be off today too. Strikers Sears (4/2) and Massey (4/1) are suffering from injuries, same as midfielders Watt (3/0) and Wilson (4/0). The coach is forced to wait till the last moment if he can use some of them in the original lineup.
Coventry have seen over 2.5 goals in their last three matches against Colchester.
Coventry are undefeated in their last six matches against Colchester.
Coventry have scored at least two goals in their last three matches against Colchester.
Coventry is a favorite to win this match, but the visiting team isn’t that poor in offense and might trouble the hosts too. Having in mind their style and form, over 2.5 goals seems to be more than a decent bet when team that scored the most and conceded the most involves in a game.
Bet: Over 2.5 goals
